I have had a sheet of watercolor paper rolled up in my closet for 2 years. No, really, 2 whole years. The receipt was still in the bag and I bought it in 2015.<br />
<br />
That means that 2 years ago I bought it to try my hand at making one of <a href="https://youtu.be/1z6qmXGRrsE" target="_blank">Teesha Moore's 16 page journal</a>'s created with one 22x30 sheet of paper.<br />
<br />
It is actually a very simple project. I'm not sure why it took me 2 years to do it! Here is what my finished book looks like, before it has been used at all.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzS2O1kak1UEby7ieGqNJAlRaz36lO2_NYSBq1wpRe0tsh1DjQsQNxwPK2lr27RUiAojO4K9_GjwaNcA04-aw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
My biggest problem was that my paper had been IN A ROLL for 2 years. That means it wanted very bady to remain in a roll.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9U0AzJ8bouXQtFxcdMsl-0r5hR3hn0d7BAHeZfoNONg9Rfe1u3azoeDJvuIUePq_sRxj8Zm4yNM6ZysGETdfR-MqBxp7T50Ep66exMXWujsfrjwqi1t48F-OSQXsiL70TPec3sqJjS0sF/s1600/DSCN0439.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9U0AzJ8bouXQtFxcdMsl-0r5hR3hn0d7BAHeZfoNONg9Rfe1u3azoeDJvuIUePq_sRxj8Zm4yNM6ZysGETdfR-MqBxp7T50Ep66exMXWujsfrjwqi1t48F-OSQXsiL70TPec3sqJjS0sF/s320/DSCN0439.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I've taken off the clips that held it round, but it remained round. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUjgZa38JiD6VOLCwA9PYc6gCkxY6FlOVMINSFPljjNFX7UNoaW0XxTDWAythqFYTpUk83b5BiByBbOPLrKPALmBy6qXuU1J6mecb7NtWtRD1VYpjrTeXUC0coH9oZ_2r71lggqOxBMYY4/s1600/DSCN0443.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUjgZa38JiD6VOLCwA9PYc6gCkxY6FlOVMINSFPljjNFX7UNoaW0XxTDWAythqFYTpUk83b5BiByBbOPLrKPALmBy6qXuU1J6mecb7NtWtRD1VYpjrTeXUC0coH9oZ_2r71lggqOxBMYY4/s320/DSCN0443.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I had to weigh it down on both sides in order to measure and cut my pages.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY5OrUd8TpdbV0P3cSw8Wt4ACJwyZ45USbgKVKmAkplzNuv5cbSv2Zjst80zieiPHEYT8IZ-NGV1obqJSbWowHlH4q4YzG47wB4vSlW6u1yyZN6ciaDlzPWQir-l7H2-WMKJVPxBOrQUx_/s1600/DSCN0444.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY5OrUd8TpdbV0P3cSw8Wt4ACJwyZ45USbgKVKmAkplzNuv5cbSv2Zjst80zieiPHEYT8IZ-NGV1obqJSbWowHlH4q4YzG47wB4vSlW6u1yyZN6ciaDlzPWQir-l7H2-WMKJVPxBOrQUx_/s320/DSCN0444.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Then my pages wanted to curve! They would not lay flat.<br />
<br />
That didn't bother my folding of the page flaps, but it made binding the whole thing together a little more difficult than it out to have been.<br />
<br />
So that is #2 in my #100thingschallenge. I'm sure you'll see it again when I start using it in its intended purpose as an art journal.<br />

<br />
How are all my crafty friends this week!<br />
Are you working on anything special?<br />
Did you finish anything awesome!<br />
<br />
Since the last WIP Wednesday I have made a pair of earrings:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkm1JsBeLK-YQK0H8TEmG9iKOAGzBHDmD_NhdATuJ9BIE2z6aA-Sg_sqMgNmsVzmnU-cYBoXmOdWLcx0G72xn8TMYqHRkkM34V1sKPZBdD_1VK4RCCnLgeHjFvWoZaxiC8egGEuxXVynzw/s1600/skull+earrings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1212" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkm1JsBeLK-YQK0H8TEmG9iKOAGzBHDmD_NhdATuJ9BIE2z6aA-Sg_sqMgNmsVzmnU-cYBoXmOdWLcx0G72xn8TMYqHRkkM34V1sKPZBdD_1VK4RCCnLgeHjFvWoZaxiC8egGEuxXVynzw/s320/skull+earrings.jpg" width="242" /></a></div>
<br />
Not a lot else going on in my crafty world though. I'm pretty much on a DIY failure slump!<br />
<br />
Now, it's your turn!<br />
Share what you're working on, or what you recently finished!<br />
Not a blogger? Link to instagram, that works too!<br />

I hope you've all had a wonderful and creative week since last Wednesday!<br />
<br />
Updating my WIPs, I finished my <a href="http://adiyday.blogspot.com/2017/08/inkjet-image-transfer-with-mod-podge.html" target="_blank">InkJet Image Transfer</a> and it wasn't a total fail, but it wasn't a total win either.<br />
<br />
The eggshells I was saving to make eggshell pendents ended up in the garbage for now.<br />
<br />
I've started painting some of the rocks I have around here and hiding them because that is a thing apparantly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC_O8LDLm-1NfAlKe_6m42HHyKzwZjOu5nxeCq2Aa4y-9aAWaXifNFws-zgmMEm3eJQof2AiYo9y1WePn2V9gmTNfVIi4OZuhMhQ9QPqRPATr_8Bkvj2cyDVQWFgnJe452U2w0P8a-age1/s1600/rockzilla.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC_O8LDLm-1NfAlKe_6m42HHyKzwZjOu5nxeCq2Aa4y-9aAWaXifNFws-zgmMEm3eJQof2AiYo9y1WePn2V9gmTNfVIi4OZuhMhQ9QPqRPATr_8Bkvj2cyDVQWFgnJe452U2w0P8a-age1/s200/rockzilla.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAmJqTmkXGV2mvPWIjcU3YSDFN1juQ51RD7fdDeJYv2AWx2j3jBlg_pUGmfTvoPFG_e5ttLfiGbIwyOoQDYS7A3q7AbSLn6z2NuvGRCLMaNvB-YD2vHuCb9-TuGtJWe74Os6rISaYw6jr4/s1600/rockzilla2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1126" data-original-width="1600" height="140" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAmJqTmkXGV2mvPWIjcU3YSDFN1juQ51RD7fdDeJYv2AWx2j3jBlg_pUGmfTvoPFG_e5ttLfiGbIwyOoQDYS7A3q7AbSLn6z2NuvGRCLMaNvB-YD2vHuCb9-TuGtJWe74Os6rISaYw6jr4/s200/rockzilla2.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
Also, I unearthed a roll of watercolor paper which will soon be turned into an art journal following a style I've seen on youtube. That's gonna be my next #100thingschallenge post so stay tuned for it.<br />
<br />
Now, it's your turn! Share a link to something you've worked on this week!<br />

I can't remember the price but they were either $0.75 or $0.50. I thought they would make an awesome project, but they had one fault.<br />
<br />
They all had gardening themed sayings on them. Not sure if the words would sand off or not, I only brought one home with me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXUz9tcaR1hyphenhyphenRzC1DzFqejzW6gy0qroRs3nF5GL4HBXj1PfSwJS9kZUabvzJGEqn_r1NXtUSjU5TkRo4FRdDfid4eVKMw-lKvuHuFjky5EGDUJ1dr2yyPUy6L4XGes4w_h8XpRZJxthyphenhyphen7v/s1600/000transfer01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="576" data-original-width="600" height="307" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXUz9tcaR1hyphenhyphenRzC1DzFqejzW6gy0qroRs3nF5GL4HBXj1PfSwJS9kZUabvzJGEqn_r1NXtUSjU5TkRo4FRdDfid4eVKMw-lKvuHuFjky5EGDUJ1dr2yyPUy6L4XGes4w_h8XpRZJxthyphenhyphen7v/s320/000transfer01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
As it turns out, the black words did sand off quite nicely when I went at it with my <a href="http://amzn.to/2uYXaPk" target="_blank">sanding block</a>. Actually, it had more paint on it than I thought it did, since some color came off too. But it didn't look bad, and now I knew what I wanted to do with it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7xhSimugp6vG2POHlH7KHl8sfWuNkFQceDokW33CMkI4QuO6KmV0lHUBCw0FZUKrdvUbdypwVT7-C4HLizafzUs8ydVRT8urCR3fUCIzIS0PMRBeAyGTVzX1TPFIxeeYmcOZNPaJ06pl_/s1600/000transfer02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="515" data-original-width="600" height="274" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7xhSimugp6vG2POHlH7KHl8sfWuNkFQceDokW33CMkI4QuO6KmV0lHUBCw0FZUKrdvUbdypwVT7-C4HLizafzUs8ydVRT8urCR3fUCIzIS0PMRBeAyGTVzX1TPFIxeeYmcOZNPaJ06pl_/s320/000transfer02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have a photo of my newly adopted dog, <a href="http://nonersays.blogspot.com/2017/06/oscar-bearded-wonder.html" target="_blank">Oscar</a>, and it has a distressed look to it, so I thougt I'd finally do something I've been wanted to do. I wanted to try an image transfer on this block of wood.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtMubyqr_InAQgNq4dFislwXis-nMNZwW84KLqxX4ZbwH0Hq-uHA4SrKDz047B-edH7f5ByvkZoIXsuhtFCY9KO-a-SHoxLr64gE5k76Z8GZzE4E_uY0YHvBaR7nCUjA3h6aTaYdyQ58YO/s1600/oscarhome.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="599" data-original-width="597" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtMubyqr_InAQgNq4dFislwXis-nMNZwW84KLqxX4ZbwH0Hq-uHA4SrKDz047B-edH7f5ByvkZoIXsuhtFCY9KO-a-SHoxLr64gE5k76Z8GZzE4E_uY0YHvBaR7nCUjA3h6aTaYdyQ58YO/s320/oscarhome.png" width="318" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I only have an inkjet printer though, so I was worried that it might not turn out right, since all image transfers call for laser printed images.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.amazon.com/Mod-Podge-Transfer-8-Ounce-CS15067/dp/B00CHQ8IJA/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&qid=1502810271&sr=8-1&keywords=mod+podge+photo+transfer+medium&linkCode=li3&tag=artcraftscoffee-20&linkId=305d71c406ec223e14e197bbff5aa76b" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="//ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B00CHQ8IJA&Format=_SL250_&ID=AsinImage&MarketPlace=US&ServiceVersion=20070822&WS=1&tag=artcraftscoffee-20" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I had some Mod Podge Photo Transfer on hand,<br />
though there are other mediums that can be used for image transfers.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I printed out my image, smothered my wooden base with the transfer medium, then lay my image face down on top of it. Using a gift card I scraped the paper down flast, rubbing any air bubbles out of it.<br />
<br />
The came the hardest part of the whole process. I set it aside to dry. They say it has to dry for 24 hours! So, for a whole day I don't know if the image is going to turn out or not!<br />
<br />
The next morning after I let the transfer sit under a damp rag for several minutes, I started rubbing off the paper. I IMMEDIATELY knew I wasn't going to have a perfect transfer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtYfqWLdJSAaWxZ3J8gKOk8Y451naXiy1xgzPvVas7NfwW3qedvYWyqelYZ5ipIQ84nAGNdC2pVU8apO5AKImjxFRZpAxa2kYvUjnZrhT7wrel_1UsK9J9rB5bfUT4TMhLfeiGRA_L4rRN/s1600/00transfer03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="573" data-original-width="600" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtYfqWLdJSAaWxZ3J8gKOk8Y451naXiy1xgzPvVas7NfwW3qedvYWyqelYZ5ipIQ84nAGNdC2pVU8apO5AKImjxFRZpAxa2kYvUjnZrhT7wrel_1UsK9J9rB5bfUT4TMhLfeiGRA_L4rRN/s320/00transfer03.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Most of the color wiped right off of my picture.<br />
<br />
Now, around the edges there are still thick globs of dry transfer medium that are still solid white. I'm wondering if using a different method of transfer would come up with a cleaner image? <br />
<br />
If they have any more of the wooden wall art, I may give it another try with a different medium.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile I've finished #1 of my #100thingschallenge. <br />

<br />
I tried to do an<a href="http://adiyday.blogspot.com/2017/08/inkjet-image-transfer-with-mod-podge.html" target="_blank"> image transfer on wood using an inkjet print</a>. If it works (because at the time of composing this it's not done yet) I have a full canvas I'd like to try.<br />
<br />
I prepared some egg-shells for some eggshell mosaic pendants I'd like to try.<br />
<br />
I've also dug up a couple of craft kits to finally try, thanks to the <a href="http://adiyday.blogspot.com/2017/08/100thingschallenge.html" target="_blank">#100thingschallenge</a><br />
<br />
So, what have you worked on this week? Feel free to share in the linky below.<br />

<br />
You have stuff at home. A lot of stuff. Maybe you're a jewelry maer and you have a ton of beads. Or you knit/crochet so you have a stash of yarn. Or, if you do mixed media like me, you have a TON of random everything everywhere in your house.<br />
<br />
BUT...<br />
<br />
Despite having all this stuff already, you always find yourself in craft stores or thrift stores buying more and more and more stuff. Things are coming in faster than they are going out.<br />
<br />
Is that correct for you?<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6G2wXEdIOv5iUV5UnCQ-SF_e1eGwWhxLTsjcoJRsTxBB7PyXdqyg0f4cxW7V4K8WbEjpvX9uAxNd9DsNPelx9vBPLNw9ffFBH-SuksNpiJoyBty3cFE3KYuyhggd7DX2pyQ232NmN46lx/s1600/stuff.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6G2wXEdIOv5iUV5UnCQ-SF_e1eGwWhxLTsjcoJRsTxBB7PyXdqyg0f4cxW7V4K8WbEjpvX9uAxNd9DsNPelx9vBPLNw9ffFBH-SuksNpiJoyBty3cFE3KYuyhggd7DX2pyQ232NmN46lx/s320/stuff.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is just a small part of my hoard!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I can't remember the last time I finished a project, (not counting <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKfhtQWdwZ8" target="_blank">my gluebook</a>) but I keep bringing things home. And it doesn't help that I WORK in a craft store so I can't avoid temptation.<br />
<br />
Well, I found <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB1Qr4whGG0fEQgsx3e4cXg" target="_blank">danceswithpitbulls</a> on youtube, and she had issued a challenge. To NOT buy any more craft supplies until you have made 100 things using what you already have!<br />
<br />
I loved that idea, and wanted to take the challenge.<br />
<br />
Most people are doing it on youtube, but we all know I'm not a good youtuber. So I thought I'd blog it out! I make make occasional videos too, we'll just have to see.<br />
<br />

This past week I played with the recycling again and made a <a href="http://adiyday.blogspot.com/2017/06/donut-trinket-box-make-it-monday.html" target="_blank">Donut Trinket Box</a>!<br />
<br />
Last night I bought myself a new cross stitch kit to work on:<br />

Make A Donut Trinket Box </h2>
June 2nd was National Donut Day. And while I missed the actual day by a week or two, who doens't love donuts no matter WHAT day of the year it is.<br />
<br />
So when I saw this adorable Donut Trinket Box on HGTV Handmade I had to give it a try. It was adorable and it looked simple enough. It didn't take much and and had it all on hand. You probably do too!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkXQlF1RIOUzQN2WiFITuE74IBXHYPObecGCGESC4B1iUYy9HkYViQOOHfgVxnFAM9V_TDUfjBEe4SeUoXaCVkmsOI54WTMT2ld0tFzKa60tO052Y33m2aEww0QvSrmVUOqKzQLUotR4gj/s1600/DSCN0340.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkXQlF1RIOUzQN2WiFITuE74IBXHYPObecGCGESC4B1iUYy9HkYViQOOHfgVxnFAM9V_TDUfjBEe4SeUoXaCVkmsOI54WTMT2ld0tFzKa60tO052Y33m2aEww0QvSrmVUOqKzQLUotR4gj/s400/DSCN0340.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMWErLbtqH9Wy119lWGtwgzwAf82zvoGvglhpN8YLg9r-miWH4P60aFCCl_aU36gbpH3VLYPz1krw0MJ_sHhfNpsvakK_ONYdzSHF3urc73j5GelQZyWKqlkwLtod0EXwdYQ_h3HmE-jx3/s1600/Ad+Tech+Glue+Gun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="345" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMWErLbtqH9Wy119lWGtwgzwAf82zvoGvglhpN8YLg9r-miWH4P60aFCCl_aU36gbpH3VLYPz1krw0MJ_sHhfNpsvakK_ONYdzSHF3urc73j5GelQZyWKqlkwLtod0EXwdYQ_h3HmE-jx3/s200/Ad+Tech+Glue+Gun.jpg" width="137" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I love this glue gun by<br /><a href="http://amzn.to/2sVmcin" target="_blank">Ad Tech</a> for its precision<br />tip nozel and dual temp!</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<b><i>Supplies</i></b><br />
<br />
Recycled cardboard<br />
<a href="http://amzn.to/2sVmcin" target="_blank">Hot Glue Gun</a> with Glue Sticks<br />
Scissors<br />
Donut Template (see video below)<br />
Acrylic paint and brushes.<br />
<br />
So, I ran to my recycling, grabbed some cardboard, printed out the template and started my first attempt.<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: yellow;"><b>DIY Tip:</b> Print the template out on thick cardstock instead of plain printer paper to make it easier to trace around.</span><br />
<br />
Unfortunately my first attempt was a flop. I got my temples printed and cut out, got my glue gun heated up and then I struggled to get my cardboard sides to fit around my donut box's top and bottom. In the end it was a hot glue smeared, stringy hot mess that wouldn't fit together because my inner holes became the same size!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnFKQx5eh2qvZgdJaZnngwkUh41f6usZv6e5k6iu98mTVWAjEJs43ZCtSqVF9ON31tr2iAJzGugzXJ1HzDoq85R8FnD79lgvthGykpdpZbn4hJY1fq7v1LJfaHt0z9bi0n8n4dZw8n6cYX/s1600/DSCN0338.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnFKQx5eh2qvZgdJaZnngwkUh41f6usZv6e5k6iu98mTVWAjEJs43ZCtSqVF9ON31tr2iAJzGugzXJ1HzDoq85R8FnD79lgvthGykpdpZbn4hJY1fq7v1LJfaHt0z9bi0n8n4dZw8n6cYX/s320/DSCN0338.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The biggest thing I took away from that even was the following:<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: yellow;"><b>DIY Tip: </b>Use a THICKER cardboard for the top and bottom of the doughnut. Courogated shipping boxes work well. Use a thinner cardboard, like a cereal box or toilet paper tubeingfor the outer and inner walls of your doughnut trinket box.</span><br />
<br />
I didn't let that stop me though. Armed with a little practice, I re-cut my top and bottom out of thicker cardboard and tried again.<br />
<br />
This go around I had much less problem gluing on the sides because my base had more thikness for the glue, and my sides, to actually stick TO. In the end there were less gluts of glue, and the top of my Donuts Trinket Box actually went on to the bottom of the box properly!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqe4M1QzP-FjbmLB1yOKkWofi67ODWHEVZFzCvh9mRCRKjVmXaVcDHpK1Zp7ZdXRX9_nMajGPH6nl_gnzsdgdxSnB0EqHlf5scSt2ShIIT-a5amZJiauTW4hiq3b4fKTJlnTtLKYBiRgAO/s1600/DSCN0339.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqe4M1QzP-FjbmLB1yOKkWofi67ODWHEVZFzCvh9mRCRKjVmXaVcDHpK1Zp7ZdXRX9_nMajGPH6nl_gnzsdgdxSnB0EqHlf5scSt2ShIIT-a5amZJiauTW4hiq3b4fKTJlnTtLKYBiRgAO/s320/DSCN0339.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now that the thing was built it was time to decorate it! This is really the best part! I made mine a chocolate donut with strawberry icing!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwlCu1kWRuxYa9jdvrVDJ_51guGj0zS0INtgnGhgURpRv4C6XyxDmuoWC1gC1QaMLxy-7TXOb2RbIRdkdCSB5SSdeTBeNpy_n8-xNTSch0P3hPSx_VTBoj0cMfJ9oAbw5vEMC2Epw01jYR/s1600/DSCN0342.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwlCu1kWRuxYa9jdvrVDJ_51guGj0zS0INtgnGhgURpRv4C6XyxDmuoWC1gC1QaMLxy-7TXOb2RbIRdkdCSB5SSdeTBeNpy_n8-xNTSch0P3hPSx_VTBoj0cMfJ9oAbw5vEMC2Epw01jYR/s400/DSCN0342.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="background-color: yellow;"><b>DIY tip: </b>If your recyled cardboard is glossy (the outer sides of packaging usually is), you should sand it down so your paint will stick better.</span><br />
<br />
If I were to make another box I think I would make the wall of the bottom 2 inches instead of 1 inch, to see the differene in my bottom and icing better. Also, It would hold a few more things. I think I would also make the drippy side of the icing BEFORE I glued it to the top of the donut. It was a little difficult to cut after it was together. <br />
<br />
Learn how to make this box, and two others, in the video below!<br />

<br />
Its mid-week again everyone! Isn't that great?<br />
<br />
I hope that you were all able to make time to do something you love this past week. Did you make any progress on your projects? Did you finish something? Did you start something new?<br />
<br />
Whatever you did, feel free to share it with us, in the comments and in the linky below!<br />
<br />
As for myself, I started punching out bunches and bunches of holes:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvkIIG1rdLkuwwbXrDLLSCC7JFXvaInKRe_rddgQaZmkp3_XxDtX-gQJTlaNWqbg51g2jrNM7jtXUQVZ1Anp3UejejBNXBMKZHh4ajYhzUaifgjjn3_h_ehAC1ckTzeUeHXOimK9b1eooX/s1600/buttons.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="337" data-original-width="500" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvkIIG1rdLkuwwbXrDLLSCC7JFXvaInKRe_rddgQaZmkp3_XxDtX-gQJTlaNWqbg51g2jrNM7jtXUQVZ1Anp3UejejBNXBMKZHh4ajYhzUaifgjjn3_h_ehAC1ckTzeUeHXOimK9b1eooX/s320/buttons.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I intend for these to be handmade embellishments to hopefully sell on Etsy.<br />
<br />
I've also started a new art journal, and have one unfinished spread in it so far:<br />
<br />

I hope you have found some super projects to keep you busy in the time between my last WIP and today!<br />
<br />
As for myself, I've been trying to figure out how to create content for this cute little blog when I can't even manage to make time to DO a DIY.<br />
<br />
Ahh..well the winds of change are blowing, maybe they'll send a seed my way.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, share your creations with me this week. Maybe I'll be inspired! <br />

Glad to see you again!<br />
<br />
I finished my little Weeping Angel. Isn't she adorable!<br />

I'm thinking about randomly leaving her on my bosses desk. He thinks they are the best villian ever.<br />
<br />
Recently I've not been working on anything other than spreads in my <a href="http://amzn.to/2l4I7Ap" target="_blank">tiny art journal</a>.<br />

I plan to soon start working on a Traveler's Journal. A fauxdori a lot of people call them, because of <a href="http://amzn.to/2ktn2xF" target="_blank">Midori</a> being the most popular ones.<br /><br />
So, stay tuned for that, and for me to make some refills for the TJ's I already have.<br />

<br />
Sorry for the hiatus I took here. In November we lost one of our fur babies, our 13 year old Labrador Boomer. December is just a hectic busy time of year for me (I work retail!) and in January our other doggie has faced his own life-threatening medical problems.<br />
<br />
I wanted to make 365 tiny works of art this year but I'm a month behind on that.<br />
<br />
I did start stitching again this month though.<br />
<br />

My FB and instagram friends guessed a lot of bird like things for what this stitch in progress was going to be.<br />
<br />

Even when she was finished my husband said, "That looks like a very buff eagle."<br />

COASTER INSPIRATION </h2>
Surfing the crafty side of the internet today I came across some <a href="http://www.wonderwood.no/single-post/2016/10/23/TIPS-TIL-HJEMMELAGDE-JULEGAVER-1-diy-kobberblad-coasters-HOMEMADE-CHRISTMAS-GIFT-IDEA-1-diy-copper-leaf-coasters" target="_blank">Copper Leaf Coasters</a> that I loved the look of.<br />
<br />
I also just happened to have some ceramic tile laying around, from a previous coaster project I never did do.<br />
<br />
What I didn't have was copper leaf, or gold leaf, or any leaf really. I've never leafed anything before.<br />
<br />
I did have gold paint, though, and thought I'd try my own take of the Copper Leaf Coasters using gold paint instead.<br />
<br />
<h3>
SUPPLIES</h3>
<br />
<a href="http://amzn.to/2e6kBTj" target="_blank">Ceramic Tiles</a> (or plain coasters to upcycle)<br />
Low Tack tape (washi tape or painters masking tape work)<br />
Americana Multi-surface paint (I used Black Tie and Gold)<br />
Paintbrushes<br />
<a href="http://amzn.to/2fzKmN4" target="_blank">Mod Podge Hardcoat</a><br />
Cork or felt<br />

<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
<br /></h3>
<h4>
Step 1</h4>
<h4>
</h4>
Tape off the edges of your tiles. I used some Washi tape I had on my desk.<br />
<br />
Paint your base coat on the tiles. Americana Multi-Surface paint is an indoor/outdoor paint and works fine on ceramics. It will take more than 1 coat to cover completely, however.<br />
<br />
My coasters took 4 base coats to be solid.<br />
<br />
<h4>
Step 2</h4>
<h4>
</h4>
Once dry, mask the top of your tiles where you DO NOT want paint with tape. I covered all but 1/3 of the tiles surface.<br />
<br />
If you look at the image at the top you'll see gold polka dots. That came from the washi tape I used, so if you use Washi, make sure it doesn't have any foil elemnts (unless you want to try for a foil transfer, then go ahead!). <br />
<br />
<h4>
Step 3</h4>
<h4>
</h4>
SPLATTER!<br />
<br />
Using the gold paint, pretend you're in kindergarten again and splatter the gold paint all over the exposed surface. The look is meant to be random!<br />
<br />
My paint was too thick, so you can add water to yours if need be, or just brush random daps and dashes onto the coasters surface.<br />
<br />
<h4>
Step 4</h4>
<h4>
</h4>
Gently remove the masking from the top of the coaster and set aside. Pull the tape from the sides of the coaster and discard.<br />
<br />
Reuse the tape you set aside to cover the top edges of your coaster. That keeps you from getting paint on the top while you paint the edges.<br />
<br />
<h4>
Step 5</h4>
<h4>
</h4>
Paint the edges of your tile gold. Again this will probably take multiple coats to achieve the desired effect.<br />
<br />
<h4>
Step 6</h4>
<h4>
</h4>
Cover the whole shebang (top and sides) with the Mod Podge Hard Coat.<br />
<br />
Once dry, use the glue of your choice to glue cork or felt to the bottom of the tile.<br />
<br />
Now, it's ready to use!Nonerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06480497624124937739noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9100706868318486494.post-46281888811813229952016-11-02T11:59:00.000-04:002016-11-02T11:59:56.713-04:00WIP Wednesday #20The past few weeks have been a series of crafting FAILS for me. I did learn how to make a granny square though, and I'm HOPING to use that skill to make my husband a blanket for christmas.<br />

What is everyone working on?<br />
<br />
Right now we are trying to get our house ready for Hurricane Matthew to blow through and trying to decide whether to evauate or to ride it out.<br />
<br />
Not really a fun decision!<br />
<br />
Meanwhile I've been turning a toilet paper roll into something fun.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I've been doing my collage art journal pages than anything else lately, using my tiny journal.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Today I broke out one of my larger sketchbooks and some acrylic paint. No collage for me today.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I pulled up YouTube and opened a tutorial, but only loosely followed it. (Video at end of blog.)</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy8jODBsvpqGUXz28J5X61DYudrON8ORLNthq1SHTBfo8Qjb6NGUqBy7JsPlHn_NDRDSCIVwZfzNaN-xGZQ2Ew9H0oV5E1BHXjTACPQOb2xOVlniMbgfqQIbf9pLG9yl8d5ZtAD1wjqdE2/s1600/IMG_1928.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy8jODBsvpqGUXz28J5X61DYudrON8ORLNthq1SHTBfo8Qjb6NGUqBy7JsPlHn_NDRDSCIVwZfzNaN-xGZQ2Ew9H0oV5E1BHXjTACPQOb2xOVlniMbgfqQIbf9pLG9yl8d5ZtAD1wjqdE2/s400/IMG_1928.JPG" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I had painted this page blue at one point for a project, but never did whatever I had planned. It was perfect for this paint along. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> My feathers did not turn out as nice as the Art Sherpa's. Then again I'm not that good of an artist. I also have sub-par (cheapest possible) supplies.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> Still, I don't think I did that bad considering my skill level. I like them.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">By the time I got to the beads I just needed to get the page done, because I had to clear off the table for lunch. (The dining room table is the only space I have to create art.) So they just kind of got blotted on without any detailing.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">And here is my Dreamcatcher all finished. (Or is it?) </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I couldn't help but feel SOMETHING was missing.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I hate to waste any paint, so I took what was left on the pallet and smeared with a brush all over the page in front of the one I was working on. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">One day this will be the background of a new art journal page.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEtGnmcbpc0M3qnE0TwXc2klxbLO1FYbNj-4gWj0KRpP6ESaRaIZa4kTfItVC87LxT0p-FQ_SMM_FFuKVR_gofpXvuGkNSzQAMl3wFtj_g2BesFDSGvqw1z9Y0QvE38U1-0Z4lUsQtIDti/s1600/IMG_1936.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEtGnmcbpc0M3qnE0TwXc2klxbLO1FYbNj-4gWj0KRpP6ESaRaIZa4kTfItVC87LxT0p-FQ_SMM_FFuKVR_gofpXvuGkNSzQAMl3wFtj_g2BesFDSGvqw1z9Y0QvE38U1-0Z4lUsQtIDti/s320/IMG_1936.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">OR...it might just remain smears of paint on a page for the rest of its life, but at least it didn't go in the garbage like this lovely paper plate pallet did.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtZpnlkbNm7WqXV1keopjxNt6fu8uvm5Ab8kFdOdLe28VJHpi1MYLh3gpheM871YOW_PbSv3yPXXto4XNcXq3RIAsU5QRe3PFlnQaAKCmqd0laoA3zKTmhu3rz1NrAHDs2-ZxeSVl67_Mq/s1600/IMG_1934.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtZpnlkbNm7WqXV1keopjxNt6fu8uvm5Ab8kFdOdLe28VJHpi1MYLh3gpheM871YOW_PbSv3yPXXto4XNcXq3RIAsU5QRe3PFlnQaAKCmqd0laoA3zKTmhu3rz1NrAHDs2-ZxeSVl67_Mq/s640/IMG_1934.JPG" width="640" /></a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> Meanwhile, after lunch, this happened. I kept feeling like something was missing, and just had to do some of my "found poetry" on it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">So while most of this was hand painted, I ended up doing a little collage with text from a magazine.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNeVw-pabssNiuV-_dMjsZwrcRFQr6DTvEf3EWBEnEk7Uv1PbfQg2mmtNpEjN1G5WHC1gKCiTYby7qv8g6jolstroZIyyu_DaQ9btpTZJRHWvdriEe7SsMcwEolGP-FSmVnKAr9Q35rjU6/s1600/IMG_1935.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNeVw-pabssNiuV-_dMjsZwrcRFQr6DTvEf3EWBEnEk7Uv1PbfQg2mmtNpEjN1G5WHC1gKCiTYby7qv8g6jolstroZIyyu_DaQ9btpTZJRHWvdriEe7SsMcwEolGP-FSmVnKAr9Q35rjU6/s640/IMG_1935.JPG" width="640" /></a></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">And, here is the video that inspired this art journal page.</span></div>

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!<br />
<br />
This past week I didn't really do anything with my art journal, BUT, I did grab hold of my <a href="http://amzn.to/2bbkjqZ" target="_blank">Happy Planner</a> and got a little creative.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5rP1lJega4IxvChMXJ5wzG-qhcUYIrEnvA3vIrzzdtHNTW35NPRBfmB2c-vSixQd8Ro6uDTiUf86Z0cMQ8T0zvnLVGsTGmfhgnp-Y9RBVb9cwMHpSuw20qXzUKivTHrXDmf4UZInwNDMT/s1600/Happy+Planner+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5rP1lJega4IxvChMXJ5wzG-qhcUYIrEnvA3vIrzzdtHNTW35NPRBfmB2c-vSixQd8Ro6uDTiUf86Z0cMQ8T0zvnLVGsTGmfhgnp-Y9RBVb9cwMHpSuw20qXzUKivTHrXDmf4UZInwNDMT/s320/Happy+Planner+Front.jpg" width="308" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My Happy Planner "Follow Your Heart" is a <br />
July 2016 - December 2017 one.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I bought my Planner a few months ago because, you know, all the cool kids were doing it. It certainly wasn't because my life is particularly busy and in need of planning. I work. I come home. I sleep. I work. I come home. I sleep.<br />
<br />
So needless to say, my planner was looking kind of pitiful.<br />
<br />
Late last night I was flipping through my planner and thought, you know what, I'm gonna put something on these pages!<br />
<br />
So, me being me I grabbed the nearest magazine (that just happened to be <a href="http://amzn.to/2bu6Atk" target="_blank">Teen Vogue</a>) and a pair of scissors and my trusty gluestick, and I started flipping through, cutting out, gluing down.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4TSbzROcTeQ5pCOcovdrBHroawNGSP0DUT3D3YH3zDqE90A_e6EFrigFVmAZt87dvMWm3HSbRxpjYVdqvAPacCUEscBfTB9M8Kvgeyy2ftWIEamlP0aRgqz1SCHHPs8YB9rUSqrjUEdqJ/s1600/Week+of+Aug+15-21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4TSbzROcTeQ5pCOcovdrBHroawNGSP0DUT3D3YH3zDqE90A_e6EFrigFVmAZt87dvMWm3HSbRxpjYVdqvAPacCUEscBfTB9M8Kvgeyy2ftWIEamlP0aRgqz1SCHHPs8YB9rUSqrjUEdqJ/s400/Week+of+Aug+15-21.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
What do any of these pictures have to do with my life in particular? Not a darn thing really, other than I saw them and I liked them, so I put them on a page to stop it from being blank and boring.<br />
<br />
It started with Yesterday (Sunday) and the dancing girl and the word "Happy" and then I found a bright colorful ad, and then a couple of other images to fill in the blanks. And my finished pages are colorful and fun. <br />
<br />
This prompted me to dig out my old <a href="http://amzn.to/2bGwpXr" target="_blank">5x7 Iris box</a> that I once used to store words for my Found Poetry, and start going through it. This box is small and compact, and can hold a couple of pens and a small glue stick as well so could toss it in my bag and travel with it if I wanted.<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCTrYHbGqX8CT404DZNtTldajBfZO9vfxVY6cxTGg3TL7wAQgZw6uHITdkUN5vVP_6L2fjPoqjoOA_NkRw_D5N5VMUyggx9j-iZUuNBT1W9YDFeBIW-G1ep8WP7Nodm_phAGUwek13BWym/s1600/71rc67cLHxL._SL1500_.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCTrYHbGqX8CT404DZNtTldajBfZO9vfxVY6cxTGg3TL7wAQgZw6uHITdkUN5vVP_6L2fjPoqjoOA_NkRw_D5N5VMUyggx9j-iZUuNBT1W9YDFeBIW-G1ep8WP7Nodm_phAGUwek13BWym/s200/71rc67cLHxL._SL1500_.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Gee, I wonder why this call this<br />
machine the "X"?</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Meanwhile I need to find where I put my <a href="http://amzn.to/2bbJxlY" target="_blank">Xyron X</a>, which is also PERFECT for making stickers the in a size that would work with my happy planner. I've had mine for several years now, first used it to make stickers for pen-pal letters and journal pages. I wonder why I quit using it so much?<br />
<br />
I have plans for doing more in my Happy Planner in the upcoming months. I'm going to be making a Daily Habit Tracker starting in September for one thing. I have a mood tracker that I've not been using and I need to start that again.<br />
<br />
I've been looking into bullet journaling, and since the Happy Planner has<a href="http://amzn.to/2bbGbQ9" target="_blank"> graph paper</a> I can work my favorite bullet journal ideas into my planner.<br />
<br />
There is also a <a href="http://amzn.to/2bwFPGE" target="_blank">Fitness Planner extension</a> that I'm going to use to make my own fitness planner.Nonerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06480497624124937739noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9100706868318486494.post-81342693947337130592016-08-17T22:34:00.001-04:002016-08-17T22:34:20.837-04:00WIP Wednesday #15Happy (end of Wednesday) my friends!<br />
<br />
Sorry this is coming so very late in the day but I'm just getting home from work, after spending the entire morning at the hospital for a surgical consult.<br />
<br />
I still having started stitching on my Zenbroidery woman. If her eyes were open I bet she'd be looking at me rather disdainfully.<br />
<br />
I didn't do the washi tape/toothpick craft either, but I did do this!<br />
<br />

Yeah, its on a different site than this one, but I'm trying to post some things at places where I might actually earn a few cents (cause this starving artist is about to have to pay out of pocket for a surgery!)<br />
<br />
So, what have you been up to this week?<br />

<br />
I'm sorry to have left so much time between posts. I've been a crafting slacker and ashamed to show my face just to say, "I didn't do anything." again and again and again.<br />
<br />
This week I finally put my Zenbroidery in a hoop. I still haven't actually stitched a thing on it, but its ready just in case.<br />
<br />
Here is what she looks like out of the pack. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtc5idoTv1mFmBO7WO0TfiWj32eoM84tEgId6Lr83-1oKpJk-YIp0S7lsH35mtqL4wGGMdE-_JOdfoNkAQQmyH1peS64uHsyqdSeS1e0zvClADDS8otFwfHdC7UUeFNQ2-VGSx5SFZOaNV/s1600/IMG_1818.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtc5idoTv1mFmBO7WO0TfiWj32eoM84tEgId6Lr83-1oKpJk-YIp0S7lsH35mtqL4wGGMdE-_JOdfoNkAQQmyH1peS64uHsyqdSeS1e0zvClADDS8otFwfHdC7UUeFNQ2-VGSx5SFZOaNV/s320/IMG_1818.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And here she is in her hoop. I think I'm going to start with a satin stitch on her lips.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdDbYlVe8lSsFFXWhh3w8uM6jB209VcakPgYVyb3Q7DpVPNff1k0zBB8Zqv1n4ZNQbGZF2wGkrNRrpn1gqJfOT8wlaySLyQa5xqY8uCB_pIa6VWhoySKX2CWwlGEoSjIKn7pMb58t75U4X/s1600/IMG_1819.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdDbYlVe8lSsFFXWhh3w8uM6jB209VcakPgYVyb3Q7DpVPNff1k0zBB8Zqv1n4ZNQbGZF2wGkrNRrpn1gqJfOT8wlaySLyQa5xqY8uCB_pIa6VWhoySKX2CWwlGEoSjIKn7pMb58t75U4X/s320/IMG_1819.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm also putting together the stuff to make a couple of projects for here an another site I write for.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Washi tape, toothpicks and book text (not pictured) will be involved in my next projects.<br />
What do you think I'm making?<br />
<br />
I also plan to pick up some <a href="http://amzn.to/2aSpah5" target="_blank">craft feathers</a> today (or soon), and if its not too early I plan to have a Fall Candle craft soon.<br />
<br />
So, what have you been working on? Please, share your projects with us!<br />

This is my next project!<br />
<br />
I've never done embroidery before, but I have cross stitched.<br />
I have a couple of adult coloring books, and this, Zenbroidery, is like adult coloring but you do it with thread.<br />

Some of my favorite Art tubers have a certain day that they share art journal videos. One does Monday's. One does (or used to do) Wednesdays.<br />
<br />
I've been toying with the idea of sharing my own art journals here on Monday's. Sharing one (or all) of the spreads I do in a day.<br />
<br />
I already have a collection of art journals, but thought I'd make Journal Monday here at A DIY Day even more special by making my own journal for it.<br />
<br />
So today, between playing with my boys and going to see Ghostbusters, I managed to make this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXerGmuqq1rCsd5wkrBtiQHkqQGVpJDq3dQCGQa_0ff4bQB91FGw5DtsJmDGIk-unKt6RG8hBS8_OhMR-h37VS0OR2qaS7Ea10qYb8oSQLtAV6mQtiuYkHXDGnnQHubIJowMqw6OqMdCjt/s1600/IMG_1734.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXerGmuqq1rCsd5wkrBtiQHkqQGVpJDq3dQCGQa_0ff4bQB91FGw5DtsJmDGIk-unKt6RG8hBS8_OhMR-h37VS0OR2qaS7Ea10qYb8oSQLtAV6mQtiuYkHXDGnnQHubIJowMqw6OqMdCjt/s640/IMG_1734.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I think it is quite lovely if I do say so myself! But can you guess what it started out life as? Keep reading and you'll find out!<br />
<br />
After watching a YouTube video where a woman was challening people to make 5 Junk Journals a week for 5 weeks, I thought I'd like to make one. 5 a week seemed a bit too much for me, but started with 1 seemed okay.<br />
<br />
So I ran to my recycling box and I rescued this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc1nTLllKIsfk3CBlOUNmFenhefhrl3lzrsj7lK0eMqQvEvLXh9qAQWOkjCrzc64a2A1Y9BDHac2TJAPU6aKnwJI5yNijtDCWs6HIS7Ee_z57HlaXxCWfrnrHeSLmXGBl7uWtVFOjoYfp6/s1600/IMG_1727.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc1nTLllKIsfk3CBlOUNmFenhefhrl3lzrsj7lK0eMqQvEvLXh9qAQWOkjCrzc64a2A1Y9BDHac2TJAPU6aKnwJI5yNijtDCWs6HIS7Ee_z57HlaXxCWfrnrHeSLmXGBl7uWtVFOjoYfp6/s320/IMG_1727.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
That's right, the base of this beautiful journal was a Kraft Mac and Cheese box!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOl2QB2-jwhS_HTgbwBVZbiGxQ7w8whpKuAn_RMSCbNN6O-JMhJZXI_SJad2ixQYey0smXiMFbqXzGa0umUj8L4oBf1ALu7RuiaRjCtw5UO2oREPbWl8KGt0lm5wgRAYo4kQqLFvmboPZa/s1600/From+Junk+to+Journal.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOl2QB2-jwhS_HTgbwBVZbiGxQ7w8whpKuAn_RMSCbNN6O-JMhJZXI_SJad2ixQYey0smXiMFbqXzGa0umUj8L4oBf1ALu7RuiaRjCtw5UO2oREPbWl8KGt0lm5wgRAYo4kQqLFvmboPZa/s640/From+Junk+to+Journal.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
First I opened up the box and cut off all the tabs like so:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLerd4af5-Uj4tnrtRBoOp3XiLCDMMPgniu2rszyU6QjtjaYUb6kl1n1vQqdoJ_QbIti_68I0X2-Rxovy4kJXG2YIpzvql7u5MM3QSfb6jkk7NXm_f0RlTqR0oV1kWSXWiYutRDULqimwY/s1600/IMG_1729.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLerd4af5-Uj4tnrtRBoOp3XiLCDMMPgniu2rszyU6QjtjaYUb6kl1n1vQqdoJ_QbIti_68I0X2-Rxovy4kJXG2YIpzvql7u5MM3QSfb6jkk7NXm_f0RlTqR0oV1kWSXWiYutRDULqimwY/s320/IMG_1729.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
After that I used some prints I had pulled off of my <a href="http://amzn.to/29PRsKZ" target="_blank">Gelli Plate</a> using a live fern as a mask.<br />
<br />
One print was used on the outer cover, the second was used on the inner cover. I used Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue to glue the pages down. I love the fast grab because it sticks quick and I don't have to clamp thing down, but it is SO thick. I think I'm going to try to find a thinner glue next time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1jaPjY9W3C26e-L8O7KGS-QufVbbpax4_cVcV3ol7XrPLVQxWkNNaI3tqjjDOp9wiYGmpr9XNvjcv_xIAb820wj2FqZa6ESFglrqbniniKZoqK4_YTB5fW56IJ21O9xSLgXovRNSsJiN5/s1600/coversinandout.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1jaPjY9W3C26e-L8O7KGS-QufVbbpax4_cVcV3ol7XrPLVQxWkNNaI3tqjjDOp9wiYGmpr9XNvjcv_xIAb820wj2FqZa6ESFglrqbniniKZoqK4_YTB5fW56IJ21O9xSLgXovRNSsJiN5/s400/coversinandout.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The inner pages are recycled too. They are a cardstock of unknown poundage. They were scraps my husband brought home from his old job over 6 years ago and have been sitting around the house waiting to be used since.<br />
<br />
I cut the scraps to fit my book (which is tall and narrow).<br />
<br />
I made 4 signatures of 4 pages and each, and bound them in the book using a 3 hole pamphlet stitch. I didn't use waxed thread, I just grabbed some DMC floss in yellow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiftM_-eHyxdXsDUAjeWygl0pzbeTnvnhQbCdClAbiO7FLh4C78grk2o3BlilDMtTqthZLilAOPPiHFSbmEnB3alP8tR8xINpQAb1C-OyMqQbYsSK_OCDefRD5BL3QbSGxWi4Ov_K1xXfmt/s1600/IMG_1735.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiftM_-eHyxdXsDUAjeWygl0pzbeTnvnhQbCdClAbiO7FLh4C78grk2o3BlilDMtTqthZLilAOPPiHFSbmEnB3alP8tR8xINpQAb1C-OyMqQbYsSK_OCDefRD5BL3QbSGxWi4Ov_K1xXfmt/s400/IMG_1735.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
The words on the front read "Where I take a break from my day" and they were taking off of a magazine page. I used paint the same colors as the journal cover to take the white off of the wording.<br />
<br />
Once it was all said and done I thought I did a pretty good job.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
That's right, this WIP Wednesday is also the day that I was born!<br />
<br />
This past week I cut some strips to make some paper beads, but then realized I cut them all wrong and tossed them out.<br />
<br />
I still have 2 TP tubs on my desk begging me to finish that particular craft, a white dinosaur wondering why I painted it white and set it aside, and a cross stitch wondering if I'd ever pick it up again.<br />
<br />
I'm a procrastinating crafter right now. <br />
<br />
Meanwhile, share something with our linky!<br />
